ilikeitthanks.
is anyone else going to admit to listening to this because of Half Man Half Biscuit and having their mind blown?
The bass line alone has me mesmerized.
Yes! Amen!
Beautiful
I just love this fugue and its theme. I listened to it many times
It warms my heart to hear you say that.
@@smalin I am happy to hear so!
This Bach is a good composer. Is he well reputed in classical music?
@@cunctastricte8149 As it was when he was alive, it depends who you ask.
Dramatic Music Memes!!!
Thoughts on Widor?
ok, I know the story about him learning on four-hands parts on player piano is bogus, but COME ON. What an unbelievable player.
Glad to see that Jayson Tatum has FINALLY given up on that sorry excuse he calls a basketball career and has finally gotten into piano playing where he belongs! /s Thanks for sharing his work!
Bach was NASTY AF!
Bach, gifted Master of bass lines...
It’s true, L van B was the first rock star.
As a die hard Tatum fan, this is one of my favourite videos on UA-cam. The visuals are perfect, reminds me of the vibe Monsters Inc was trying to potray in the intro
Высший пилотаж!!!
outstanding! thank you!!!
absurdly inviting visualization! beautiful!!!
Oh no... The link to this version is dead. Where, who, when was this recorded. It's the best.
Sorry, I don't know (I've updated the FAQ).
Bello
C'est du très très grand Jean Sébastien Bach ! Nous, organistes, ne sommes que des interprètes. Bach était un génie !!
Little Einsteins brought me here.
FIRE COVER
Is that powerful enough for you?
All this, and little known fact, Bach put together a quiche loraine to die for
I wonder why the title is "I am content with my fortune" but it sounds minor and not in a dance manner kind of minor... It doesn't sound particularly joyful... The lyrics are: "I am content with the fortune that my dear God bestows on me. If I am not to have the comfort of riches, then I thank him for little gifts and am also not worthy of these." Perhaps it's only sad to my modern ears Maybe the dotted rhythm suggests it's actually happy
see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ich_bin_vergn%C3%BCgt_mit_meinem_Gl%C3%BCcke,_BWV_84 (where it talks about the affect of this movement).
@@smalin That's hilarious. Possibly the reason he did so is because he wasn't content with his situation in Leipzig while writing it.
How come it's not the 17 minute one?
Because I liked the original better.
Why is there one 12 min (Fantasia) and another 17 min?

Wow!❤
So which one of the pianists is Tatum? 🧐😜
The low notes are Tatum as a young boy, and the high notes are Tatum as an adult.
I got this song mixed up with Maple Leaf Rag and was confused once I actually clicked play on the video
Malinowski takes on Art Tatum! That was beautiful. Life is good. Thank you so much.
My fingers would die if I played this 😭
I personally prefer the black background. Also I was wondering to myself if/why Scarlatti or the interpreter decided to notate/play this sonata in a style without the texture I usually associate with Scarlatti but then I heard 0:53.
Awesome.
Goodness! The sound of this bass is very unusual! Sounds electronic, something about it is strange
It's a reed stop with very strong 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th harmonics (and without much in the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th harmonics).
@@smalin Ohhhhh so the harmonics of the organ are sort of frequencies on their own which is why it's like some sort of ancient synthesizer! Crazy, got it
Can.u please.make this ringtone🎉❤🎉🎉😮🎉😢🎉😅🎉❤🎉
It was written in 1826. It sounds like it could have been released last year.
No, it doesn't
I like this background color.
It's so sad that so little of Domenico Scarlatti's music is performed on harpsichord, AS IT SUPPOSED TO BE. Don't get me wrong, piano sounds good, but at the same time, it's kinda off. It lacks warmth and softness harpsichord has, not to mention, it's a massive anachronism. IMHO, baroque music sounds the best on period instruments.
I'm afraid I have to push back on this. What does it mean to say that "so little" of his music is played on harpsichord? He wrote 555 sonatas, so it's rare for a harpsichordist to have recorded all of them, but I don't know any harpsichordist who doesn't play Scarlatti. So I guess you mean you don't like it that non-harpsichordists play his music too. Personally, I love Scarlatti's music, and I do play the harpsichord (once even had a gig doing that), but I don't have one at the moment, so I play them on my piano. You certainly aren't saying I'm not "supposed to" play Scarlatti, are you? Or that other non-harpsichordists should keep their hands off of his music? The majority of my Scarlatti videos ( www.musanim.com/Scarlatti/ ) are based on harpsichord recordings (and I'm very much a fan of historically-informed performances), but when I hear a Scarlatti rendition I like, it doesn't matter to me what instrument it's on, and in many cases my favorite recording of a particular Scarlatti sonata is on an instrument other than the harpsichord (e.g. ua-cam.com/video/aEJaGq5mOYM/v-deo.html ). So, while I can understand that you prefer hearing Scarlatti on harpsichord, I think that if you can't appreciate performances on other instruments, you're missing something.
@@smalin Sorry, what I meant to say, it's rare to hear recordings of harpsichord performances of Scarlatti's work. Especially here on UA-cam. I remember scouring the internet for his work performed on harpsichord, as most of it was piano. And yes it's my personal preference, but if you or whoever else likes to play Scarlatti on piano, all the power to you my friend. Have a wonderful day. :)
@jarekwrzosek2048 didnt scott ross record all of scarlatti on harpsichord? The entire recording is on UA-cam as far as I know (because that's what I listened to). Unless you don't like his interpretation, it is there - all of them.
@@bsku0765 Yes.
this one is great ^^
I discovered this song (and this channel) during Edward Tufte's seminar a million years ago. I ran home to see if I could find the video and was so happy to track it down. I'm always excited when I hear this in a movie and was able to hear it live once. This is still my favorite version of the song, played on period instruments, thank you for bringing it to us.
That was beautiful
I think this is the first time I see you using a "paper-colored" background, and it works really well !
@@GuilhermeCarvalhoComposer ua-cam.com/play/PLtj_HurkS7Zy-nricgo7W9V8pk9bXniSJ.html&si=p7z3QqiSlc7LFO16
@@smalin oh cool, thanks! I'd seen most of the white backgrounds but somehow missed the "papery" ones.
Ooooh
This sounds like it's in B Major to me. Am I going mad? Edit: Should have added 'great work!'
See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_(music)#Pitch_standards_and_standard_pitch
@@smalin Ah, thank you! I had wondered whether it was related to differing pitch standards over time, though I didn't know about the standard 'Baroque Pitch' that's about a semitone lower than today.
amazing! Have you done any other pieces with this same animation style?
I tried it with other pieces, but none of them worked nearly as well as this one, so this is the only example I've published.
